Off The Fence: Festive Fizz
Dear Readers,
Good afternoon, we’re joining you for a midweek one-off special – this is our festive gift guide. Christmas is only a month away, and we have a groaning banquet of goods for the diffident teen/ surly uncle/ jocular mother-in-law in your life. Board games, prints, magazines and books – we have, as the Swedes call it, a ‘smörgåsbord’, but one that comprises beautifully made presents at gentle prices, rather than a tray of herring sandwiches, rollmops and gravlax.
Sweet, Sweet Print
A year’s subscription to The Fence is an excellent present whatever the season, but today, we’re offering a deal – if you subscribe now, you’ll get the current Issue 13, plus the Christmas Issue (14) and then a whole year’s supply in 2023. Six magazines for the price of four, all at £30 only, which really is not very much at all if you think about it. Just go directly to our website here to sign up.
If you would like to give a subscription, then simply enter your own details in the ‘billing’ section, and then enter your giftee’s details in the ‘shipping’ section that follows after. If you need any help at any stage, email the editor, Charlie, at cb@the-fence.com and he will guide you through the process.
Bubbles Beading at the Brim
Those with a passion for Coca Cola and cartography will be delighted to receive a print of the ‘Soho Map of Cokes’, which has been drawn by the legendary Paul Cox – you can see more of his work here.
Now, we are selling these prints at the very affordable price of £40. They’re on A2 size, and signed by Paul, so are probably going to be quite a bit more in the years to come, which might appeal to those of you with a speculative nature. You can see what they look like here.
We only printed 50 of these, and over half of them have now been sold, so do move quickly here. If you’d like to buy one, reply to this email, and select your shipping option, and then we will invoice you directly.
Gary Potter and Gerry Poppins
Our very first book, Shit Literary Siblings, features the forgotten brothers and sisters of the Canon, and makes for a cute little stocking-filler for those of you who like reading books (or pretending to read books). Ian Martin – who knows about these sorts of things – calls it ‘a chuckling, baffling rollercoaster of almost criminal wordplay.’
They’re on sale for only £12.99 through Waterstones – so cheap, you could even buy two!
Michelle Mone’s Caribbean Getaway
The latest Guardian investigation into stunning malpractice with the government’s COVID contracts dominated headlines – for an evening at least. You can only laugh, or, perhaps, make a board game, which is exactly what we did in collaboration with Davey Jones of Viz fame. Pandemillions is a cash-grab for all the family, and you can see how it works at this link here.
There are only two of these games left for sale, and you can buy one for £50, plus £12 for shipping. Just reply to this email and we will invoice you directly.

Now, we’re going to join you again on Monday, but with our usual set-up of featurettes, deep dives, tips, links and gossip. Until then.
All the best,
TF
We are also delighted to offer a subscription service. For £25 you will receive all four copies of the magazine per year, delivered to your door.
